Hi, I am Loni Jaye. I am a successful affiliate marketing expert. My personal motto is “Love Your Life… Live Your Dreams!” But, it wasn’t always so. Around 1997 I was a single mom with two children to support. Having come from a childhood of abject poverty, I was determined to give my children a better life. I never wanted them to experience the humiliation of wearing nothing be second-hand clothes, eating ketchup sandwiches on stale bread and moving in the middle of the night because we couldn’t pay the rent.
I was able to provide a decent home and a basic standard of living but money was always impossibly tight. I had higher aspirations, but no clue how I was going get there. For a period of time, I worked two jobs to pay the bills. I thought if I could just pay off some of the bills, we’d have a better quality of life and maybe then we would be able to enjoy some of the nicer things like vacations. Well, that didn’t work out so well but fortunately, I was able to obtain better-paying employment that allowed me to drop the second job.

Prior to having children, I had attended college and majored in business administration. I managed to work and pay my way through college but I had no clear vision for my future. I interviewed by never got hired by major corporations. I always seemed to be the second choice so I ended up taking jobs just to get by. During this time I was juggling family, children, divorce and all the struggles young adults face. Honestly, life wasn’t much fun.
I used to sit and think about all my missed opportunities. Instinctively, I knew early movers in new industries stood to make fortunes. I wasn’t around when television was invented. I was too broke to cash in on cellular phone technology. I was behind the curve when computers first came out but I begrudgingly began learning how to use them. Then came the Internet. I remember getting terribly excited when I realized the Internet was a new frontier — and it held the key to my future. I began a two-year learning curve where I mostly self-taught myself how to use the Internet and how to build websites. Along the way, I learned some photo editing and became familiar with some software I would need in my new online business.

The early days of the Internet were much like the Wild West of the old days. Everybody was trying to find a way to make a buck. It was exciting to be in on the ground floor of this new technology. I lacked a clearcut direction. In my defense, nobody had really figured it out. This was before the days of Google and YouTube. There were only about 100,000 websites on the Internet. I set out to conquer the Internet with a Mac SE computer with a 33kbps dial-up modem. I navigated the Internet using the Netscape Navigator browser. Internet speeds were horrible. Sometimes I had to wait several minutes for a web page to load. In these early days, I thought my future was in website design so that’s what I did.
